Entire school EXCEPT
severe nut classrooms

  • NOT allowed in the building:
    Any food item that contains peanuts.
    Common items include: peanuts, peanut butter, trail mix, many popular CANDY items, granola bars, and Mexican/Chinese sauces often contain peanuts.
  • ALLOWED in the building:
    Items that contain tree nuts.  Here is a short list of tree-nuts:  hazelnuts, artificial nuts, butternuts, cashews, macadamia, pecan, pesto, pine, pistachio, praline and walnut.

  • Lunch:
    TREE-NUTS ARE ALLOWED FOR LUNCH.
  • Snacks
    Snacks follow the same guidelines – no peanuts, but yes on tree-nuts.
  • Birthday Treats
    Birthday treats MUST be the non-food items.  Click here for non-food treat ideas.
  • Class Parties
    Edible class party treats in general are allowed, however classroom teachers may have specific guidelines they will share prior to each event.
  • Cleaning of hands will be a priority.
    Hand sanitizing will not eliminate peanut protein.
    Manual hand washing or wet wipes will be utilized after lunch and snack times

SEVERE Nut Classroms

Certain classrooms have been designated nut-free classrooms because of food allergies present in that class that year.

  • NOT allowed in the building:
    Any food item that contains peanuts.
    Common items include: peanuts, peanut butter, trail mix, many popular CANDY items, granola bars, and Mexican/Chinese sauces often contain peanuts.
  • Snack
    The snack you pack for severe nut classrooms MAY NOT CONTAIN ANY NUTS (peanuts or tree-nuts).
  • Lunch
    TREE-NUTS ARE ALLOWED FOR LUNCH. 
    Desks and hands will be washed after lunch. Nut items may not be removed from lunchboxes while in the classroom.
  • Birthday Treats
    Birthday treats MUST be the non-food items.  Click here for non-food treat ideas.
  • Class Parties
    A designated allergy rep (usually a parent of the child with the allergy) will volunteer to make sure food for class parties is safe for everyone in the classroom. Parents can check with the allergy rep to verify safety prior to supplying food.
  • Cleaning of hands will be a priority.
    Hand sanitizing will not eliminate peanut protein.
    Students will wash their hands before touching anything in our classroom each morning.
    Manual hand washing or wet wipes will be utilized after lunch and snack times.
