WCA Athletics

The purpose and intent of our sports programs at WCA is to bring glory to God through participation and involvement in athletics.  Our goal is to develop, within those who participate, the character traits of Jesus Christ; producing positive Christian men and women who honor the Lord both on and off the playing field.

WCA believes that the condition of the heart comes before the score of the game.  When winning is kept in the right perspective, our student athletes are allowed to develop without the fear of failure.

The sports listed below are offered at WCA for grades 5-8.  WCA is in the process of developing a high school sports program for the 2022-23 school year.

  • 2 Week Pre-Season Camp (Morings) beginning First Week of August

Monday, Aug 2 – Tuesday, Aug 17
Morning Practices M-F 8:30-9:30 AM @ The Wolf Picnic Area in Bay Village
NOTES: Runners should bring a water bottle to practice. Wear socks. Running shoes required (they don’t have to be expensive ones/kohl’s and the dicks outlet store on Great Northern Blvd are good places to look). Bug spray a very good idea.
IMPORTANT: Runners should come ready to run 10 minutes without stopping to the first practice. Start small and work up. Begin with a 5 minute run and add a minute each day. Speed is not an issue. RETURNING RUNNERS: Come ready to run 2 miles without stopping (approx. 15 minutes). Speed not an issue.

Practices Once School Begins
Mon, Tues, Thurs & Friday 3:40-4:45
Athletes are expected to attend practice if they have attended school that day unless arrangements have been made with coach. If an athlete must miss a practice and they have attended school, the athlete should inform the coach as to why the practice will be missed.

Each athlete will need an updated sports physical and forms for the 2021-22 school year. Sports physicals are good for one year from the date of the physical.
